I am going nuts! I have wasted 10 dvds trying to burn a movie I downloaded. I either can't open the file on my standalone dvd player or it has no audio yet every single one works fine on my laptop.

It is in 4 parts, I unzipped and I put all the parts in 1 folder and tried to burn that, then I added an ac3filter to the file it didn't help, I tried just burning the 4 .vob files and while they work on my laptop - my standalone player won't open them, I tried sending them to my E drive and burning that way no luck there either, and I tried Roxio a few times and I get no audio on some parts, a black screen on others, on the preview in Roxio there is no audio, as a last resort I tried running thru dvddecryptor twice and got a message saying it was dirty or scratched - which it wasn't.

I don't seem to have a problem with a copy or back-up of things I own, either CDs or DVDs, I have Vista and the only burner that seems to work is Roxio and Verbatim discs, but files that people send me I can't seem to burn. (I don't d/load torrents or P2P)

(I was told by the sender to extract the files into their own folder and watch or burn as you would a dvd)

    Could someone help me please?

have you tryed using convertxtodvd? also the latest nero works well with vista, also try viewing the vob's with vlc player. also this movie must be something special to waste ten dvd's on a downloaded file!

I have a spindle of FUJI discs that I bought before before I found out about Verbatim, so when I'm not sure if something will work or not I'll use those instead of wasting the good ones. I figure at least with those I can see if I have video and audio, freezing I don't care about cause I know it's the disc. I'd be really upset if I wasted 10 Verbatim discs, lol!
I have the same movie on VHS but this a copy of a DVD that I'm trying to burn.
I can play all the discs fine on my laptop thru VLC it's getting them to play on my DVD player that's the problem. I burnt the 4 .vobs and only 1 of then works and works great BTW, 2 of them have no audio and the other one has audio but no picture but on my laptop all parts play fine.
Thanks for the tip on Nero - I will try that, I tried imageburn but my dvd player won't recognize the burnt discs. I will also take a look at convertxtodvd. I will try again tommorrow when my patience returns....thanks a million!
