so.. simple.. google "sound driver" or "chipset" in conjunction with the number printed on the bottom of your laptop.. strewth.. has logic completely left this generation? start here http://www.computerhope.com/drivers/sound.htm followed by http://sound-drivers.org/ when you know what your hardware is
ok i did this already i have searched in google plenty of times....BUT NO SOLUTION IS FOUND....ok the sound drive i have is called conexant hd audio 221...i have the folder in my programs cause it comes with my laptop...now my icon is saying no audio output device is insalled...but just last night i had audio for a good hour..and when i restarted it, its givin me the same problem again..now i downloaded the driver from HP.com...and they had it...but when i install it says (driver installation failed: could not find the device for this driver)
I suspect your chipset/MOBO has failed. This happens all the time. Buy a new card. That is a cheap and the easiest solution. You can also try switching any cards you have into other slots. That shouldn't have anything to do with the problem but sometimes a problem 'moves' after you move cards around.
