Many people have found that sound even on Quicktime won't function after they upgraded to 10.5.1. (I run 10.4 :) Under these circumstances, I search various Mac forums for a kludge to apply until Apple fixes it.

GO TO AUDIO AND SELECT ON TRACK OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND SELECT THE OTHER TRACK

have you tried opening the file in quicktime... does it have sound? In Quicktime Under Window -> Show Movie Properties see what the sound track format is.

The release of 10.5.2 apparently did not fix this problem, as reported on the current home page of

    http://www.macfixit.com/

which offers some kludges. The 10.5.1 was reported to eliminate all sound from any source in many computers. Quicktime and iTunes upgrades are reported to have produced less dramatic sound problems. One kludge is to boot to Safe Boot mode (by holding down the shift key when starting), then continue to boot fully. (Safe Boot mode loads only necessary kernel extensions (device drivers) and doesn't start any applications automatically.)
