Hi I have this problem thats just occured. when trying to back up a cd, no matter which of either of my drives I use a message appears telling me there is no disc in the drive???? I assumed it was crap discs so went off and bought a different brand, same thing. I have deleted both drives and reistalled them to no avail. any ideas ?
For the Phillips udate your firmware to P1.9 Get it here... http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1950 For the external can you run Nero Info Tool, found @ aD and tell me your firmware version please.
Thanks again Ripper the version is showing as 6,0,0,0. I have upgraded the Philips drive. (Edit) Sorry just realised what you meant. the firmware version is p.20
Right update the Phillips and I meant what version is the freecoms firmware? So what version is the firmware on your freecom? Also, did that fix the problem on the Phillips?
OK, so under Nero info tool there is no specific number/letters just "v1.0"? Sorry, it's just I am tryign to establish the right update for the freecom lol
Ok try to update your external with this firmware. http://www.freecom.com/objects/00004385.zip If it doesn't update (*target drive cannot be found*), get back to me...
Thanks Ripper but that didnt work, it says target drive RW8B9 could not be found. which is not the right model. Seamus (edit) Ive just realised that nero info kit is reading the drive as RW8J9
Ok I think it is this firmware. http://www.freecom.com/objects/00005813.zip If that won't update it then there isn't an update for your drive available lol
just passing thru; thread teleported to Nero forum. sounds like it's the very old Nero 6.0.0.0 that can't recognise your burners..
Lol i forgot to mention that; good catch creaks Run these update packages for Nero. Package 1 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
Sorry guys. just got around to reading the responses, I have upgraded to NERO 7 premium no change should I try a different brand of disc???? NERO works alright DVD wise on both drives but on the Freecom it wont do the CDs, it used to, so I dont know whats happened. The Freecoms a lot faster, hence the reason I would like it running as it should. Thanks Seamus
I know that this is becoming a pain in the a**e, I tried the other 3 ports on my pc but a message told me that it would work better was it plugged into a usb 2 port. I know it is because it only takes 14 mins to back up a DVD, in another port it would take at least 2 hours.I just want to fire it out the window now.
Sorry guys for not getting back sooner, I opened up the case to try and clean the lazer, and lo and behold written inside, make and model of my burner is Lite-on sohw-832s. Seamus
Lol that's helpful piece of info there! Hehe Update your firmware with this then.. http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SOHW-832S/firmware/DR8VS0M.zip That should update your LiteOn's firmware! Not freecom after all ;-)
