I just started getting no disk errors when burning dvd's with nero on 4x. Im not sure why but it just started like 2 days ago. But I have burned a few dvd's on 8x and most seem to work.

I don't know what causes it,but I've had it happen a couple times.I just restart my pc and then it usually works fine.

Sounds like Nero is not recognizing your media. What media are you using? Are you ripping the movie with this drive? Or what are you trying to burn? Do you have the latest version of Nero? Which app in Nero are you using. Posting the log would also be very helpful.

What media are you using? Like Fuji +r 8x. My only guess would be that the media you have the lowest burn Nero will allow is 6x. Example if I use 8x the lowest option available is 4x. I would also assume that you're using 1 drive to burn and rip. Is your firmware also up to date?
The not playing in you standalone issue probably also means your player doesn't like the media.
A Nero log would still be helpful.

Memorex is some of the worst media out there. It doesn't suprise me that this problem is happening even though some burns were successful.
Switch to quality media the extra few cents (if that) is well worth it. Using Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim - I think will solve your problem.
Also make sure your firmware is up to date.
If you need help post back.

but thats the thing it wasnt a few burns that was successful. I have so far used 200 of these and this started when I got to like my last 20-25 so it cant be the media(to my knowledge) because over 170 burns isnt just a few.

I had problems with Memorex media - writing failures, no disc recognized and finalization errors while otheres burned fine. You can get several bad discs in a pack when there is low quality control - if any. Memerox uses some poor manufacturers -CMC especially. Your Memerox will probably also deteriorate in time - blank and the burned ones.
Again make sure your firmware is up to date. Also make sure you are using the latest version of Nero - 6.6.0.15.
To rule out media pick up some Fuji,Sony (look for made in Japan) or verbatim.
Again posting an unsuccesful burn Nero log would be very helpful to see if there may be more problems.

Sure it can't hurt. That way we can see if there is anything else that may help.
