I had the same problem with the BenQ drive... you basically, or atleast I did, play around with it, try shutting off the drive and jungleflasher, and do absolutely nothing but turn on the drive and then open jungleflasher, I kinda had one chance to have the drive detected and put it in Vendor Mode and if I changed the drive location I had to do it again. So get the program on the location you think the drive is, turn off jungleflasher and the drive and then turn them both on starting with the drive.

Confusing but thats what worked for me.

i had hitachi issues as well, here's what i did
    1. power up xbox
    2. eject drive
    3. unplug power while drive is open (you have to hold it to stay open)
    4. open jungleflasher
    5. power xbox back up (holding driev again-center light should be flashing)

this should get your drive detected in the upper right of jf. if it doesnt show in the vendor section but it is in the drive section just proceed with flash. mine never showed in vendor section but i went ahead anyway and it worked.

nothing works idk what to do. I followed the guide given by jungle flasher and it still hasn't detected the drive. At first i thought it was that my sata drive couldn't read the hitachi drive but my computer recognizes it. Could it be that i didn't do something before. I did the port IO because i can see it in my device manager. Other than that what else do i have to do. If this doesn't work do you recommend doing the slax method ? Thank you again for all your help i really appreciate it.

Does atleast jungleflasher see the drive?

I just flashed a hitachi 79, and windows did NOT detect the drive. However, jf did see it over sata. I went ahead and just flashed it and it worked perfect

no jungle flasher didn't see the drive for some reason. The only way i can tell that my computer reads the drive is by pressing f2 when i boot up my computer and it shows up in SATA 1. It doesn't even show on my computer. Arghhh i just don't know what to do lol could it not be working because im not using a sata pci adapter? I mean i have 4 sata drives on my motherboard but maybe that has something to do with it?

when i did it, only 1 of the 4 sata plugs on my mobo worked so maybe try all 4 plugs?

I've tried connecting the cable to all my sata drives except the one where my hard drive is connected to since i fear that my computer might not run after i switch it up. Can anyone confirm me that its safe to move the hard drive sata cable to another port since its the only one i haven't tested for my hitachi drive.

Try DosFlash32, my computer didn't recognize my BenQ drive, Jungleflasher didn't either, Dosflash did.

hitmanxp, why not just flash your drive with FirmwareToolbox since your having problems with JungleFlasher. Also, when you say you installed Port I/0, did you install it manually or how did you install it? That is kind of weird, when I installed Port I/0 my Samsung drive wasn't detected in Windows but JungleFlasher did detect my drive on my VIA card..

Yeah thats right I'm having the same problem. Its not reading in jungle flasher everything is plugged up. Mode b is used so that the drive can be reconized you will really see the drive with a drive letter. Then your ready to flash.

I think I'm going to use the Slax CD.

sounds to me like jungleflasher wasnt thoroughly tested with hitachi.all i can say is if your drive is seen in the drive pull-down area you should be good to go.

hey guys here is a little update. I tried using jungle flasher and it said raw dump failed. Then i tried firmware tools and after i clicked save on the raw dump options, my computer froze. Now i just read a guide and it said that i had to turn raid off if i was using an onboard sata drive. I'm using the sata drive on my mother board so can that be the reason why its not working.
