Hi, I get a message saying that no cd or dvd drive has been detected when I try to burn audio CD in WMP10. I have both an internal cd-rw drive and a dvd writer. Both are accessible from "My Computer" and they have a recording tab. The "enable cd recording" box is checked in properties of the drive. Both are actually listed in the devices folder in tool options in WMP but the recording tab does not show in properties there, even though it shows elswhere. Imapi CD Burning Com Service is set to automatic and has started. For some reason, I like WMP10 better than 11 but I don't remember why. My computer is a Presario Desktop with Windows Xp SP2. Do you know what else I can check to find out why it is not detecting my drives and what I can do to fix? Thanks, Gail
WMP is pretty much garbage. Concider yourself lucky you ran into problems. Do you normally just listen to CDs or do you have an mp3 player?
I wan't trying to be helpful I was trying to figure what options you had so I could be helpful. I will have to assume you only listen to CDs. Media Monkeys (MM)burning utility is pretty much idiot proof. It has a free version. I have never seen a post asking for help for the MM burn utility in the years I have read this forum. It has never 'lost' a drive. It is one of the most popular audio managers. The other, WinAmp does not burn CDs. Every week there are multiple complaints about WMP doing something wacky like losing the drives. If you like the challange just continue using it. Maybe one day WMP will find those drives and you can burn again.
