Hi, I would be grateful if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong! I have been sucessfully burning dvd's for some time using and buring decrypter in iso mode. I recently accidently uninstalled the free trial Norton antivirus I was using and installed a Tesco one instead. Since then I go through the process as before, decrypt/shrink then burn without any error msgs but when I put my disc in the dvd player,it's blank.

As always when I'm burning I switch off my antivirus and disconnect from the net. I'm using win xp.

    Many thanks, Lilian

It may be coincidence with your recent program changes but it sounds as if your DvD BURNER may be going bad. Maybe the lens is dirty. Get some cleaner and see if your luck changes any. I had the same problem with a Pioneer Burner. Sometimes the copies would work and on other well, a messed up DvD turned itself into a coaster.

is there anything actually burned on the disc? Meaning if you compare the one you tried to burn with one that hasn't been burned yet do they look different? Could just be that your DVD player doesn't like the discs you are using.

Thanks for the replies. I do have to say my burner is funny about the discs I can use but I have been fine using these discs for a while but I will try another type I have in.

I would also like to clean the lens, wont do any harm. Can I ask is that something I have to buy to do that? Not heard of it before.

    Thanks again, Lilian

Just go to your nearest computer store or some place like Wal-Mart and ask for the supplies. I don't have any in the house so I can't really remember a prodcut name but there are several.

I've heard that those DVD lens cleaners with the brushes on them are not good for burners. I've never tried them before so I don't know from personal experience.

I never used one either but I've heard both ways. It seems, like with most things, it's the quality of the maker's product.
