is their a way to FTP games that I backed up onto my xbox without a mod chip? I'm assuming im going to need a dashboard but how do I get it onto my Xbox?
Yes, you can softmod your Xbox, but a chip is a better choice all around. Now if done correctly a softmodded Xbox can do almost everything a chipped on can. But things like recovering from a problem, lost file, or swapping out your hard drive for a bigger one are much easier on a chipped system.
