kocher. hi. i'm useing ridisc -r id ritek g04, i'm not to good on the tech. side. i thought that mp3 was something to do with audio. so if the disc had burnt o.k that the disc would have played o.k but with no audio. geoff

well i was not expecting u to have used a good media, but u did so thats not the problem. there are rumors floating around that dvd-r's dye can fade, in as little as 6-8 months. lots of factors though--esp storage. how do u tore ur back up dvds? i store mine flawlessly in real dvd cases and always store them vertically as opposed to horizontally. nearly everyone says that they read somewhere that storing them vertically is best, as i have read this too, thats what i do. hoestly i think ur dye may have just faded, but if u got the dvd again, i would not sweat it too much, maybe try storing better, or maybe try new media, even though ritek g04 is spose to be top tier, it might just not be great with ur system.

oh forgot one little thing--i have about 100 back ups on memorex(b4 i found this site) from about a year ago and they all still play fine. they are cmc mag which is spose to be terrible(bottom tier), but it works in my system. now i use taiyo yuden, as they are "the King" and they are cheaper than aything in a retail store.

kocher. hi. thanks for your thoughts. i think you misunderstood what i meant. i did'nt explain very well.these disc's are new burn. i always test before i put them in store. not old disc's i'm trying to play after i've had them stored for while. not to worry not enough coasters to bother about. geoff

hi kocher. yes it's still the same problem. had it again the other day. shrink then decrypt then burn. check it in my stand alone, up comes message (no mp3 files found) then it's ejected. did'nt get any response from anybody except yourself, so i assume maybe there's no answer to the problem. of course if it is only happening to me, which is quite within the bounds of reason (stranger things happen at sea) i'm not clever enough to work it out myself with my limited amount of knowledge. if i do then i shall let you know.
