Hi, I've been searching many forums now for an answer to my question: I don't really remember what it was that may have caused the problem, but probably it was a new codec that I installed. The OS I'm working with is XP, no program (Media Player, Winamp, Quicktime,...) will play my mpg's and I'm sure they aren't corrupt. I then tried to get me some mpeg-codecs, but that wouldn't work either. The players are able to show about 1 or 2 seconds of video and sound, but then the display is freezed and then black. Also they show a false length of the movie (If 10 min, they calculate about 1 min). I am very thankful for any help.
Download a tiny programme called AVIcodec. Check your mpeg files using this and it will let you know if the files is corrupt or supported on your OS
I allready knew that the mpeg I have are not corrupt, because they did work before... The message that is posted by WMP when I try to open ANY mpeg file is: You've encountered error message C00D11CD while using Windows Media Player.
Well if your sure the files are fine then try uninstalling all the codecs and reinstall following the codec guide kindly explained by Praetor. If its a codec problem this should help you out
