make sure your cables are in correctly, if there is no work going on in your area, then it could be your tuner is on the way out

depends on where u are based? In the UK, be mindful of Nagra 3 and where its currently implemented, Leeds, harrogate, Yorkshire areas, with a plan for more roll outs in future.

For me, I would be looking at a cheap second hand box, such as a Starview 4 or the Eurovox or a Kryptview, kryptview is my choice, no clones and great picture I wouldnt be parting cash for a new box at this stage of the game, get a good working second hand box for half the money, that way if it goes off, yer not of out pocket to much

Dont understand the implication of the nagra 3 situation, When completley rolled out will this mean that all current boxes are no use???. If so, will there be a solution ??
If i buy a new box i wonder how long before it crashes??
    cheers

To try and answer your questions in order:
    Yes,
    No,
These are the chances you take with these boxes now, do as MICKAH says and check out the buy and sell section on this site, also research Nagra 3 on this site before you buy another box.

tried different box and still coming up no signal,it seems that the incoming feed is not working. Also it now does not work at all as yesterday it worked intermittently. Can anyone advise

Sounds like that you don't have a live feed coming in to your house, take your cable wire from your box and put it directly into the back of your telly if you dont get your basic channels then you dont have a live feed and you need to be re-connected.
