No sound from my lcd, when hooked up with laptop

    Hi Can anyone help me get sound out of my LCD screen when its hooked up to my laptop. i have it connected with VGA to VGA. thanks in advance.

    moved to correct forum as not an audio issue. have you plugged the audio cable from monitor into laptop?

    i have only got VGA port , mirophone and headphone ports

    vga doesn't carry sound. you need to plug in the headphone port to a set of speakers.

    So i cant use the speakers on the tv.

    does it have a speakers out jack like some lcd monitors with built in speakers? check your manual.

    its a samsung lcd tv, it has every connection that i know of. what if i get a vga to component cable, would that work \?

    as been stated before there is no audio in vga cables, that is a seperate cable. need a cable coming from the speaker jack on the laptop to the speaker input on the lcd. again look at the lcd tv manual to see where that jack is.

    Thanks 4 ur help ( even if u were a bit grumpy ) i connected a 3.5 jack from headphones socket on laptop to 3.5 jack on lcd , easy really. thanks again.

    all you had to do was do a R.T.F.M.D.(Reading.The F***ing.Manual.Dummy.) & think. my 1st post mentioned what to do.
