I used cucusoft 7.07 on upon recommendation of a friend to convert 2 xvid files to one encoded file and burned with the included burner that came with cucusoft. The finished DVD+R will play fine in Lite-ON or BENQ DVD burner in a desktop system. I have both video and audio. When I tried to play the DVD+R in my Coby set top player I had beautiful video but NO audio!!! This will be the first time that a burned DVD has failed in my set top Coby playeras this pretty much plays anything. What is going on here? Should I be using a different software to convert and encode the xvid to DVD? Some said maybe try Divx to DVD. I cannot find any info in this forum on this issue. Should I use DVD shrink or nero to burn instead? This is very strange. Any thoughts?? Thanks!
Well, if the burnt copy can play on the desktop, you really can't blame the programs. *_* But still, you can try encode with VSO (free version), then burn with e.g. Nero to see if you can get better results. NTSC with mp2 audio? Under NTSC DVD specs you aren't allowed mp2 as the only audio stream so NTSC players don't need to handle it.
This time I used DivxtoDVD with the same 2 xvid/avi's. The result was it played find in the Lite-ON DVD. It also played fine now on my laptop with the correct aspect ratio which the widescreen 16:9. But now I have a new problem. It plays on the coby set top player with both video and audio. However, the aspect ratio seems to be off. The video is still playing in the widescreen 16:9 but you can tell the video is larger than the TV screen itself. If I had a widescreen TV then it would be perfect! This is very strange b/c I have watched several 16:9 movies and they all played fine on this same TV. What is going on now?
Ah ha, you can't win them all, can you? *_* Again, if the burnt copy plays well on the pc, you can't blame VSO! Can you adjust the player or tv settings?
scf_au, I was not blaming the VSO program....but I figured it out. I just needed to set the video to 4:3 since the original is 16:9. It worked great!
