Hey everyone I am having a similiar problem to overkills and i was wondering if anyone could help. I have read though this tread and i have done everything i can but i still have a problem. The problem is that i also have episodes i would like to put on dvd with a nice menu but i am unable to because they lose the sound. I will explain what i have done and hopefully someone will be able to help. I have some episodes in avi format, xvid video codec, and Dvm (ac3-digital) audio codec. I converted them using vso DivxtoDvd and i came out with 2x IFO files, 2x BUP files and 1x VOB file. Now ive tried playing the VOB in powerdvd and the video works perfect but the audio is out of sink and then turns into very high pitched voices. I was wondering is then anyway of fixing the audio? Because im just not sure what to do. Also the Vob is 900meg and the orginal avi was only 700 does this matter? And finally i have created a dvd before with divxtodvd and DVDstyler but the only differnce was that the audio was mpeg layer-3 before i converted into a VOB file. So do i need to change the audio from AC3 to Mpeg layer-3? Thanks Yoshi2
You should decompress the audio in your AVI files before encodeing them to DVD...This Might Fix your Problem as Many Encoders Do not like Dolby AC3 audio.... You can download a Simple Tool for decompressing the audio in your AVI files here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=01GOA0O8 You should also install this AC3 Decompressor(Codec)... http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/AC3ACM.zip To install it you Just Right Click the "AC3ACM.inf" file and go to "Install"..... Cheers
Hello Sorry to trouble you again but i have done what you have said i download both the codec and decompressing tool and i ran the decompressing programme and i decompressed the orginal AVI file and it took about 2 seconds and i ended up with a PCM file which was only 1 second long and 500KB so im guessing it didnt work or has the orginal file changed? sorry about this its just im new it all and cant quite work everything out about it. Thanks Yoshi2
Ive just found out it didnt work i decompressed two other AVI files both have mpeg layer-3 audio and they worked fine they both took a few minutes to decompress but when they came out they were double the size of the orginal AVI files but exactly the same length. Do you know what could be the problem with the other AVI files and why they wont decompress? Thanks again Yoshi2
Well I suppose if the other AVI files were corrupted then they Wouldn"t decompress or if you didn"t have the correct Audio Decoders Installed then it wouldn"t work.... Did you Install the AC3 ACM decompressor?? Cuz if the audio in those AVI files was AC3 then the AC3 ACM decompressor would be needed to decompress the audio.... The Files are supposed to be Much bigger after decompressing the audio because Uncompressed audio takes up much more space than uncompressed audio but this will have no effect on the size after encodeing to DVD Format.... Good luck
Thank you for all your help minion i have found out what the problem was and it was the AVI codec i had installed it was an old version so i unintalled it and and then installed AVI 2.0 and the decompression worked perfect. So thank you for all your help i am very greatful. Thanks Again Yoshi2
