Did you remember to set output format to Mpeg1 VideoCD because your dvd player might not play your disk if the audio isn't 44100hz 224kbits/s

If its a divx movie then it more than likely will have compressed audio to keep the filesize down.

tmpgenc can sometimes read the video but not the audio of a divx (and sometimes vcd/svcd).

if its divx, I recommend that you use virtualdub to uncompress the audio.

If its vcd/svcd or mpg, you should try to run a complete encoding in tmpgenc. It will take a long time for high quality but it might solve your sound problem on the vcd.

You dont need to split it to edit the audio in virtualdub.

Open virtual dub, click file , open video file.

Browse for you movie and open it.

click the video menu and click direct stream copy.

click the audio menu and select full processing mode. click audio again and click compression. In the list on the left, there will only be one option that is blank. click it and press ok.

click file, save avi. Select a location to create the movie and press open (or save or whatever it is). The encoding process will only take a few minutes. Now tmpgenc will be able to read the audio correctly.
