    Hi,

I previously could play mp3 or mpeg downloads fine with sound. I deleted tmpgenc then tried another trial version and after this, I cannot hear sound on some of my previously OK films.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like some of your codecs are gone. Did you install any new codecs or uninstall any???

You'd have to uninstall your codecs. go to your control panel and open add-remove programs and uninstall the codecs you have, especially codec packs! then in future only get codecs when you need them! for example when you get a divx download the divx codec, when you have an xvid get the xvid codec, etc etc..

Thanks for the reply Dela but remember I am a newbie and quite and old one at that...imagine the scene... I have just installed a dvd drive I put a dvd in and its great...then some flashing window says "download the latest codecs" so I do ...then the dvd dont have sound anymore. I dont have a clue what a codec is or what its for, It was only coz someone in a forum suggested it was a codec problem that I had even heard the word "codec" so you see I am am numb -thick -stupid call me what you like but point me in the right direction...PLEASE!!!
