Do you have the right audio codec to view the movie? Download and install a program call G-spot and load your movie into it. It should tell you which codecs you need to view the movie ans hear the audio. Im not too sure but i think you can only only load avis into gspot, but then again i might be wrong. Try it out.

Youre not supposed to use g-spot to play the movie, only to find which codecs you need to play the movie, for example, you get a movie file and you hear sound but dont see a picture, that most likely means that you have the right codec to hear the movie but you dont have the codec to view it. So, you load the movie into g-spot and itll tell you what codecs are needed to see it, which could be divx or xvid etc...if you need more help just ask.

    Hi,

Well, on the right it says divx and that the codec is installed..so I have what I need to play it.
On the left hand side at the bottom is talks about Nandub..which I don't have but can't get...it won't let me get it.

Okay..I can't play it back on my computer but what about encoding it and burning it? Can I still do that and will the sound be there...that's all I really care about. I use TMPGE encoder....should I use virtual dub first to decompress for sound or no??

Okay, you looked at 'video format' and it told you it needed the divx codec, can you tell me what it says under 'audio format' that should tell you which audio codec you need.

Nandub is video encoding software, so im not sure why you would need it to view your file.

You mean to convert your divx file to mpeg-1 format(vcd) or mpeg-2 format(svcd)? If you are then, i cant really help you out on that, because ive never re-encoded my divx files to vcd/svcd. But afterdawn has some guides that'll help you out.

Okay first youll need to find out what kind of audio codec the divx file had, its important to know how the sound of the movie was compressed eg: mp3/ac3 etc...if its not ac3 then do the following:

    1. Open the avi in VirtualDUB
    2. Click Video - Direct Stream Copy
    3. Click Audio - Full Processing Mode
    4. Click Audio - Compression, select No compression PCM and click ok
    5. Click file - save avi.

then you convert the resulting avi into a vcd/svcd.

I hope you can achieve whatever youre trying to, but if you need more help feel free to ask.

if youre still planning on re-encoding to vcd/svcd then you should download the ac-3 audio codec first just to make sure the movie sounds right, im not sure which one need because you havent given enough info, but im sure any ac-3 codec will do.

Ok the problem you have now is that TMPGEnc does not handle ac-3 sound so youll have to compress it into another format like mp2 for vcds. click here for a complete guide to help you:

    Good luck.

    HI,
Okay I downloaded all the software that was recommended in that link you gave me..only problem was when I went to open the VirtualDubMod....it wouldn't open saying libpng.dll file cannot be found...try re-downloading it..which I did and its' still saying the same thing.

    Now what??

ok, first did you extract both zip files:
    VirtualDubMod_1_4_13_2v2

    VirtualDubMod_needed_DLLs_260303

If so good, i downloaded the zip files myself and in the VirtualDubMod_needed_DLLs_260303 zip file the libPNG.dll was there. Ok heres what you do:

extract VirtualDubMod files into the folder of your choosing. then extract the vdubmod needed dlls into that same folder. it should work now.

    Good luck.

    Hi,
Ok...I did the virtualthing...ok....then I did the next step and fixed the audio file. Then it was to BeSweet..only problem is with the directions posted on your site...there is no option present for DSPguru_MP2@192kbps in my BeSweet GUI vo.....The only options are: cofferscuffs_MP3@136kbps;DSPguru_AC3_for_DolbyDigital-CD;DSPguru_MP2_for_DVD;DSPguru_MP2_for_SVCD;DSPguru_MP3_for_AVI;DSPguru_MP3_for_Music;DSPguru_Ogg_Vorbis_2ch;DSPguru_Ogg_Vorbis_6ch.

    These are my only options......

Yes, you're right, there is no option for DSPguru_MP2@192kbps. There is however the option for DSPguru_MP2 for svcd. Im not too sure but i think that this format would still work for your vcd. Give it a try and see if it works out.

    Good Luck.

Ok...clicked for VCD then followed instructions which got me to the part where I then click on AC3 to MP2 in the green box...this will prompt another window to open where the audion encoding should start...but nothing is happening....

    Now what??

Ok in your earlier post you said that you fixed the headers of your audio file, if youve done everything according to the guide so far, then the problem i think youre having is that youve chosen the wrong file to encode. Use the file that has Fixed 01 in its name. Also make sure that in the output box you label your file with an MP2 extension. Also did you downsample the audio? Make sure that you do. Also if any problems still persist, then id suggest going over every option that you did in accordance with the guide to make sure you followed the instructions correctly.

    Good Luck.
