I purchased a new standalone DVD player which I hooked up to my TV correctly and to my horror I couldnt hear any of the actors voices (only the background music). The problem is that DVD players do not auto adjust or auto detect your existing setup so you have to manually do it yourself through the audio setup of the DVD player. To do this, I pressed the setup button on the remote, selected AUDIO and changed all of the settings to Stereo and turned the Subwoofer setting off and the audio came on instantly once I had correctly configured it. Maybe one day they will be able to auto detect your setup and optimise the settings to suit. I hope this thread helps anyone who experiences this problem with standalone DVD players.
I wonder if you could get more help in other forum http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/12 Maybe a mod will teleport you. maybe your problem will be solved here!
Yeah, he may be in the wrong forum, but I believe he was just offering advice to anyone who might have experienced his dilemma. So thanks, ricniven, I will keep that in mind. Best regards, Rich
i had that same problem but in my case it was just the audio on the dvd player set up. it happen for 1942
Come to think of it, I had a much worse problem, I could not get any video on my DVD player, come to find out I had to hook the component cables and then go through setup before hooking up the DVI cable to the TV. Talk about frustration. On the other hand one must be reminded to RTFM. Regards, Rich
LOL! Is kinda hard to RTFM, isn't it? You'd think it should be a pice of cake and would not be a need for TFM. I hate when my girlfried reads it when I get stuck, and says "I told you to RTM" !
Well, sometimes I get alittle cocky and think I do not have to RTM. And yes, when your "significate other" reminds you that she told you so, then you know you are doomed. Regards, Rich
