I have a Nokia 6340i with Cingular, just one of my old/former phones that hasn't been activated or in use years, I just let my cousin play with it, the games and stuff. Well it's been messed up for quiet some time now.. a long while back it started saying Insert SIM Card when you turned it on, and now thats ALL it does. Can't get past the screen watsoever. It has the SIM card it it though, so I don't know if the phone's just messed up or what. Some people have told me that it has to be activated but like I said, it was working fine for a long time without being activated and now all it does is says "Insert SIM Card." So is there anything I can do, without running into money or anything? Don't want to pay anything to make it work cause it's not important, just for my cousin to play the games and such. Thanks and sorry for the long post!
Sounds like your little cousin took the sim card out of it and until you get a new ACTIVATED sim for it, it will not make or receive any calls. If you want it just to stop saying "Insert Sim", get an old Cingular sim card and put it back in.
Don't need it to make calls or anything, just get past that screen... What happened to the sim already in it?
Yup it has one in it but like i say the phone hasn't been activated in years, but it was working fine untill one day it just started saying Insert SIM and thats all it can do now
Try taking the sim out and cleaning the gold part and wipe off the gold prongs that contacts the sim also with a dry cloth and it should be back to like it was.
Maybe the phone has seen it's better days. I have one just like it and it still works but I never use it.
I think it's the sim card... After I unlocked the T-Mobile, I put in the Cingular sim and it said SIM Registration Failed. So I think it's the sim. Is there anyway to get around a sim card? Like make it work without having to have the sim?
