OK, the story so far… This summer I got myself a Nokia DB2 (cable type) pre flashed with Nutrino & Commander v6 incl. all the bells & whistles for UK cable. I then took it to sunny Spain where there is available freeview channels (plus a few extras) pumped into the apartment by Telmicro Es. I was hoping to create a new cable.xml with Bruteforce, but got absolutely nothing, not a sausage! mgb17 kindly provided me with instructions to modify/replace the existing cable.xml which I did but still nothing. My understanding of Telmicro is they ‘capture’ the freeview BBC/ITV channels from Sky Satellite via a massive dish on their office roof (I’ve seen it, it’s HUGE !) which they then transmit to a community aerial near to my apartment, then the signal is pumped into the apartments. If this makes sense to anyone…. I’m now thinking perhaps I should have bought a Sat. type DB2 ? can anyone help. Cheers
As far as I know the feed to your apartment is only active if you subscribe to the service. Try the box at a active feed from a neighbour. Beside that you can get only the not scrambled channels.
Just got off the phone to my neighbor. He tells me that there are Spanish language channels & Sky News being pumped in without the need to subscribe, I'm guessing all the other freeview channels are also available but scrambled. What do you think? Cheers!
Do you need a box for sky news or is the channel being offered in analogue format and you need only a telly.
Just got off the phone to Spain, and the answer is........ If you were to plug the TV direct into the TV feed on the wall there is nothing other than very snowy Spanish channels,but with the set top box (with the card taken out)crystal clear Sky News & Spanish channels. PS Best wishes for 2008 !
After 4 months of trial & error I appear to be one step closer to getting the bdox working in Spain. I removed Commander6 & flashed Enigma onto the box which gives the options of QAM settings (I still don't fully understand what this means, but anyway.....)then by ticking the box [INV] what-ever that is! Hey-presto a scan found all the available TV & Radio channels. So far so good, All the radio & S*y News work fine, but I think these are not encrypted in the 1st place. I get the EPG on the remaining channels but no picture/sound. So... at least I know the box works (result ! ) now I need to know how to un-scramble the remaining channels. Any Ideas ?
