Hi, I'm sure there are many more people who have Nokia Dbox's who are having problems and although I do not have all the answers I thought this thread could help and we could discuss what the solution is... I know its possible to update the keys using your remote with the following procedure but am not sure what keys should be used.. Guide to changing the Key codes on Nokia D box via remote control If the D Box goes down and the only channels you have left are RTE 2, TV3 , Channel 6 etc., don’t do a service scan, if you do you will lose most of your channels and it makes it more difficult to get them back. NOTE: When I refer to scroll in text below, I mean using the Toggle buttons that are around the OK button on the remote control, the button below the OK you use to scroll down, the one above use to scroll up and down, the buttons to the left & right you use to move left & right. If you make a mistake and you want to go back to the start, press the home button and don’t save changes. To get started follow instructions below: 1 . Press the blue button and you will be in the features menu, scroll to Tuxbox Commander, press OK. You should now be looking at the files on the D Box. 2 . Scroll to VAR and press ok, If you don’t see VAR, scroll to <DIR> & press ok, if you still don’t see VAR scroll to the next <DIR> and press ok, keep doing this until VAR appears on the screen! 3 . When you find the VAR file and you press OK, scroll to Keys & press OK 4 . Scroll to Keylist.txt and press 4 on your remote control! It is important that you don’t press OK when you scroll to keylist.txt , you must press 4 in order to edit the code that will appear! If you pressed OK in error , just press the Home button and start again. 5. After pressing 4 you should be looking at a screen with /var/keys/keylist.txt at the top, 4 or 5 codes in the middle and numbers 1 to 9 at the bottom. 6. Now you need to scroll to the code that you are going to change, e.g old code is as follows: N S401 00 587436A3B220CB46 and we need to change it to N S401 00 587436A3B230CB46 We are only changing one digit this time, in future you may have to change more digits. 7. When you have have scrolled to code you want to change press OK, When you press OK, the code becomes slightly larger and the first digit changes colour to red, this is now your cursor! 8 . Scroll to the digit you want to change, and then use the numbers on your remote to change that digit to whatever character you want, e.g. if you want to change the digit to 3 , you press the number 3 button four times until 3 appears, the press ok. The same would apply if you want to change it to 4, you press the number 4 button on your remote four times and press OK. 9 . When you have changed the digit to the new one, press the Home button, it will ask you do you want to save changes, if you are happy with the new change, scroll to yes and press OK. 10 . You should now have changed the code, to get back to the TV screen, press home. 11 . In order for the changes to work you need to reboot, press the D box button and scroll to reboot and press OK. When it reboots you channels should be back! (ABOVE ORIGINALLY POSTED BY Scoopdog) ANYONE WITH CLUES OR IDEAS PLEASE POST!
Could of done with you before I pulled my hair out earlier and run up my phone bill. How can we find out our area codes?
Guys ok I managed to get it working doing the following (with help from the rest of you here = so first a big THANKS) You need to edit the keylist.txt or softcam.KEY both seem to update each other... The keys used for Telepest is KEY 00 = 54 1E CE 02 A2 58 79 86 KEY 01 = B5 AA 58 2D 64 5E E1 05 Auto update was switched off and I had to reboot the box before channels started working Not sure how long this will last after the Virgin announcment but hey lets use it as long as possible GOOD LUCK ALL!

0 - download bigmaq toolbar at http://bigmaq.ourtoolbar.com/ and install, on the toolbar there is "latest keys" this will give you all the new keys for telewest etc your old provider before virgin took over. 1 - press the blue button on your DBOX - and go to option Tuxbox file manager/commander press ok. 2- then scroll down to the option that says "var" and press ok 3- scroll down to "keys" and press ok 4- scroll down to "keylist.txt and press 4 (DO NOT OK)to edit you must PRESS 4 4a- delete all keys by pressing ok to highlight and then 8, exit if it asks you to save do, restart dbox 4b- wait for a few mins go back into keys.txt using 4(DO NOT OK), new keys should be there. 5- scroll onto it then press OK so you can now edit it after 00 or the 01 - change the key to match the new ones from bigmaq using the buttons like a phone you should only have to change 1 or 2 numbers/letters eg n 5a01 00 ****************:rom7 just leave the time and date n 5a01 01 ****************:rom7 * is the ones you change it might say rom10 insetead of rom7, don't think it matters 6 - Press ok to exit then press the button under your power button (under the orange button) 7- and save changes when asked, if box is in German press ja. 8- Reboot (restart your box) and bingo, it should work every time your box stopes working, repeat. it's a bit of a pain in the arse but hey it's free cable
