I have a little problem i have a cheap Insignia amp in my room i think its 600 wats 6.1 ch. the amp is great and it does all that i ask. i had a set of old sony speakers (100 watts each) for the surround sound that did not sound that good. they had too much highs not that much bass. It came with a powered amp sub which its good but the speakers didnt sound good. my friend game me his set of speakers that he was not using. a no name brand that someone sold to him off the back of a truck in a homedepot parking lot. I installed those speaker and it sounds great the only problem is that the sub is not powered (doesnt have an amp) and my receiver only has a sub out rca. The connection of the sub is with regular speaker wire. according to the instructions you are supposed to run the right front channel and left front channel through it and then connect ur right and left speaker and it will only pick up the low frequency. I think that if i do that i will loose power on my speakers and i dont know if i want to do that. i read someone that the best solution for this is to buy an old receiver put a y spitter on the insignia receiver's sub out and connected to the old receiver imput and connect the speaker wires to the sub... is there any other sugestions or is there some sort of converter. my other choice was to buy an amp but i think they are too expensive for the use that i have for it.... Let me know what you guys think...
