i recently acquired a dvd-r that connects to my dvd player and tv rather than into my computer and found out that i could burn almost no discs, not suprising, i figured that some i could not burn and would require some sort of decoder, but this is ridiculous, 99.9% of the time i cannot record unless it is something from T.V., etc., basically what i am asking is are there decoders that can be bought for dvd-r systems that are not connected to a computer and if so where can i purchase one and if so what is the price range. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I think Macrovision is kicking in when you try to copy dvd's. If it's not Macrovision, I don't know what it is. Any way I found a site that sells decoders/stabilizers, etc. for around $100. You already spent enough money on a home dvd recorder that's total crap.
@akhkharu.... are you refering to a DVR? DVD-R is a media type! So I presume that you hooked up a DVR to the TV and the DVD to the TV! yes? Or am I missing something? LIke more info? hmmmmmm
Your best bet is to buy a PC burner, DVD Recorders have stuff built into them that detects the protection on a DVD. The only way you might be able do it is to get a splitter from someplace like Radio Shack that may work. I have not been able to copy either a DVD or VHS with my Panasonic, the stupid thing knows.
Everbody pretty much agrees with my previous statement. Get a Burner for your PC. Much less hassle and better quality. You can get a great NEC or BenQ Burner for about $40. For $30 dollars you can buy ANYDVD and Still have around $30 to buy a spindle of good quality media. You can download DVD Shrink (free) and you are set to go.
