Hey guys, I've been trying to burn a SVCD using VCDeasy. The file was originally DiVx and I used TMPGEnc to convert it to SVCD, I followed the manuals to the very last detail, everything looked good up to this point. I had some problems with audio/video sync when I was trying to split the output file into smaller chucks so I could burn them on CDR's. I managed to work this problem out using MPEG-VCR. Now, I'm faced with a new problem all together, when I try burning the SVCD using VCDeasy, I receive "non-MPEG1 audio stream header seen" errors. The CD will burn but the video becomes skippy and blocky at SOME parts when I play it on my Standalone DVD Player (I have tested it on other peoples DVD players too, so I know my player is compliant). Most of the time the video looks just fine tho. Ive tried demultiplexing and remultiplexing the mpeg using TMPGEnc but I still get "non-MPEG1 audio stream header seen" when I use VCDeasy. Any ideas? P.S. I added subtitles to the video as well.
I have gotten this before also and I Think it might be From editing or Muxing your SVCD Files as Mpeg2 files, You should allways make sure you shoose "Mpeg2 SVCD" as your Muxing and editing Modes when useing Tmpgenc or Mpeg2VCR to edit and Mux SVCD files...But when I had the same message it did not cause any problems so I think your Choppy Playback is caused from something else, It actually sounds like the Choppy Playback Could be caused from Bitrate spikes which Tmpgenc is Notorius for..What happens is the Bitrate will suddenly Spike(Usually at a High action or Visually complex Part of the Movie)and the DVD Player has to suddenly spin the CD Really fast and when it can not spin the disk Fast enough to read the Data in Real time you can get Jumpy Choppy playback and the audio and video can go out of sync and the audio can even cut out at times..I had this Problem quite badly with files encoded by Tmpgenc so I switched to a different encoder (CCE or MainConcept)and that Problem was solved for the most Part...Well I hope you get it figured out...Cheers
Thanks for replying so quickly Minion, I think your on to something with this concept of bitrate spiking. The picture usually 'spikes' when it IS a visually complex scene. 1) Does a program exist that can regulate these spikes? As far as my settings are for TMPEGnc, I had Mpeg2 SVCD selected, so it must be the actual TMPEGnc program causing the spikes like you've suggested. I will try CCE and let u know if it fixes my problems (gimme some time, im running a p3 455, 128mb). Very slow. Ive studied the scenes that appear 'spiked' on my television and they appear unspoiled on my computer. Hence, 2)could it be a problem with the burning process? Also I was considering maybe it was a problem with the Timestamp, seeing that I had great difficulties trying to split the large file into smaller ones, TMPEG-VCR was the only program that I could get split the file without causing sync issues...and i wasnt actually 'splitting' the mpeg, i was just selecting my 'mark in' and 'mark out' points and copying them into a new file. I never successfully managed to merge any of the chunks either. 3) Which program do you recommend for splitting/merging svcd mpeg2 files? 4)Is my 'mark in/out and copy' method not very practical?
Yes Mpeg2VCR is one of the Best mpeg editor Programs there is and is very good For Splitting and editing Mpeg files it is what I use for Splitting and mergeing...As for Bitrate spikes there is no way to controll them I just had to switch encoders But since you only have a 450mhz CCE will not work on your System because it will not run on a PC slower than I think 800MHZ and it needs at least 256mb Ram to run and it is Very Complex to use because you need to know how to Frameserve to use it Properly...I would sugest useing the "Mainconcept Encoder" if you message me with your e-mail i"ll see if I can find you a working version...You Might also Consider Upgradeing your PC, as it can be done very cheaply these days, You can upgrade your PC to a new Athlon XP 2200+ and new Motherboard for under $100 US , I am actually building 2 Athlon XP 2200+ Computers Right now and All of the parts to build 2 Full PC"s was $700 Canadain which works out to about $275 US for each PC which is pretty Cheap for a whole PC minus the Monitor and that is with NVidia GForce Video cards and 52X CD Burners and 40gb Hard drives, 256mb DDR-Ram, and ThermalTake X-Blower Coolers, So you might consider looking into it and getting yourself a early X-Mas present....Cheers
K well i will give mainconcept encoder a try, Ive been workin on gettin a new comp too, its a work in progress, i just picked up a 17" plasma screen brend new for 80$ Canadian and a G-force 4 for 65$ Ca, just waiting for my people to get somemore stock. I will let u know how mainconcept works out for me.
Hi, 17in Plasma Monitor for $80 thats Pretty Good, You wouldn"t know were I could Pick up One at that Price do ya?? The Gforce Cards I got for these PC"s were only about $15 each But they were Just 64mb Cards But still good enough for a entry level PC....cheers And if you have Problems finding MainConcept let me know and I"ll try to help out...Cheers
