I don't actually have a DS yet, but I'm thinking about getting one. I've looked at the stickys and briefly scanned threw a few pages of topics, just want to make sure I understand this right before I go buy one.. You don't have to open the DS or mess with the operating system thing that comes with the DS (if it has one at all) like a PSP, right? You can't brick a DS like you can a PSP buy screwing with it without knowing what you're doing? As far as I can tell, you basically buy something and a memory card and stick it into the slot where the games go and you're good to go?
i use the r4 revolution for the ds lite . and its so easy to use go to the web site download the software copy and paste on memory card . go to web site 1000's off them and download a rom then copy and paste them on your memory card easy as 1,2,3 and no it cant break your ds as its all on a card cart no no flashing ect . also using r4 tools like game trimmer you can cut some off the space off a rom to fit more games on a card . roms are from 6mb to 120meg hope that helps you
Jasonx1 when you talk about getting the rom, is that a ds rom or a gba rom, or could it be both? I'm confused on the different slots and what works where.
sorry yes thats a ds rom the file will be a .nds rom . and these work on the older ds and the ds lite as for the new dsi not sure as there a bit new over here in the uk
The R4 will boot slot2 devices, meaning it will act like a passme. You will need to purchase a slot 2 device seperately to play GBA roms as the R4 is a slot1 device (meaning it can't play GBA games). If you have a slot 2 device, you can load a GBA rom into it and then get the R4 to load a DS rom to get the added benefits from games such as pokemon. (You will need to do some fiddling with the Slot 2 device to get this to work though in other way it will cost more money to run them .best bet is buy a cheap gba and buy the games for them .. ds r4 cards are just for playing music files. videos and ds rom games really saving you £29.99 a pop
I've read things about an ez 3 in 1 device that's a slot 2 device. Can you put gba roms on that? I've also heard of an m3. What does that do?
