Hi, I just downloaded a star trek fan series (new voyages) and I downloaded an episode in dvd format. Now what I got was a folder that says VIDEO_TS and its filled with all kinds of data I dont understand. I have only burned dvds the easy way by using the "add video file" option. I have not yet used the Nero Rom. Can anyone explain what i need to do to make this a viewable dvd? Any help would be great
@myrothe How big is the Video_TS folder? If it's larger than 4.7 GB it needs to be recoded to about 4400MB. You need a program like DVD Shrink, free program. It will burn with your Nero software. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/ Link to software and guides
If you have Nero Recode 2 you do not need DVD shrink as it does the same thing only it works faster. Open Nero Recode, choose between recode main movie or recode entire DVD, then Import the Video_TS folder and burn. If you do not have Nero Recode, then Garmoon is right, you will need DVD Shrink to burn if the file is over 4.7 gb. This sounds like it is just a single episode that will be smaller than 4.7 gb. In that case, just import the Video_TS folder into Nero Burning Rom and burn.
Actually Nero burning rom wouldnt even recognise the files in the VIDEO_TS folder. However Nero Recode did, and worked like a charm (after a little blind stumbling around by my noob self). However what I am a little confused by is when you say if its larger than a single dvd I must shrink it. This one wasnt but if it was I DO have a DL capable burner, does Nero recode not support Dual Layer?
Nero recode does support DL discs. Just reset the target size in lower right corner to 9GB. It won't need to be recoded, but will go thru and burn it. It is easier to duplicate the 9GB disc with DVDdecrypter (Free) set to read ISO file and to Burn it with Decrypter set in write mode ISO file. You're just duplicating the disc. You can get DVD Decrypter here: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/
Myrothe Most people recode or shrink movies to fit on a 4.7gb DVD because the cost of Dual Layer disks is so much more, and the video quality is still good on the recoded movie. Actually if you recode the main movie only and not the entire DVD, alot of the movies don't even need compression to fit on 4.7 DVDs
