I just bought a 50 pack of sony 8+. I have been buying them for awhile and they were always ty yuden TO2 but I recently bought a pack that weren't. These happened to be Sony's own D11's The D11 is still a darn good disk but on my burners it only goes to 12x as where the To2 go to 16x but at 12x the D11 burns better at 12x than th TYs. Just putting this out for those interested.
I have to agree with billbo. I prefer quality over speed. I'm not about to use RB/CCE to encode and then jeopardize my backup by burning at 12x or 16x and only saving 4 to 6 minutes. 4x for me thankyou. No coasters or playback problems in almost a year. Mort
Sony +1x-8x media: Some of their 50 pack spindles are produced by Japan-Yuden000-T02 The rest of their 50 Pack spindles produced by Taiwan: SonyD11. I also notice that all their +8x 25 pack spindles are SonyD11. Both are very good, and capable of 16x in both my benqs with original firmware.I couldn't tell a difference between them.I just look on the wrapper for the japanese yudens.I feel a little better when they ID as Yudens.
Saugman My point was they both said made in Japan both the D11 and the TO2. They both burn well though the D11 says max 12. To everyone else that replied I agree 4x is a good place to burn your video but I burn at 8 times as I only use very good media and get as good of scans with my Lg, Benq and Plextor as I do at 4x. To each their own.
I have heard reports of japanes sony D11's but I haven't run into them myself. Sony dash format is notorious for using the same MID code on their media. I have run into sony -4x MID code of sony04D1 on both taiwanese and austrian discs. Their -1x-8x also have the same MID code of Sony08D1 for both the japanese and taiwanese media. Johnnyd54, What firmware version you got in that benq 1620? You should be able to get 16x out of those D11's.I've got the B7-C9 and the B7-L9 which are older versions, but both have the option to burn these at 16x.
