Might be I'm the only one to realize of this fact. I can remember the times when a colour movie was a colour movie. Reds were red, blues were blue and so on. But lately all the movies are kind of greysh. Surely it has to do with the way the studios create fx (by the way, I'm not sure they (fx) are so outstanding). Let's have a look to a pair of movies:
Underworld, The lord of the rings, The league of the extraordinary gentlemen, etc.

Instead of real, vibrant, colour, what you get is a weak shadow of it. If you want to see the difference, go to your rental video and get a copy of, let's say, Something about Mary, or From till to dusk...

There you can see a colour movie. I know everybody (well, at least almost) likes a lot of FXs in a movie, but we have to say goodbye to colour in order to get them?

You want to see a real "colour" movie? Go outside on a sunny day in a quiet area. You'll see real colour there, not some pixelated screen.
