Hi,i'm using nero 6 to backup some movies but am having problems with some of them. one out of every 3 or 4 movies give me an error message at the end. The movie is on the dvd but my comp doesn't recognize the dvd and it won't play on any stand alone player but I can open it and view the complete movie with Nero Show Time. I'm thinking that nero just didn't finilize them. I cannot open the dvd with any other program (eccept nero show time) Show time does't even have an option to burn the movie back to my computer. Is there anyway to recover these movies so they will play in any other dvd player ? Or at least put them back on my comp so I can try and burn them again ?
Sorry if i'm reposting to soon but now i'm having the same problem with every dvd (not Finilizing) every dvd burn i do now does not play on any dvd player including my comp. Why is this ? it burns on to dvd but it gives me an error message at the end which won't let me view the movie unless i use Nero show time Here is my log. If anyone can help i'd appreciate it. You've posted your entire Nero logfile instead of just the LAST section. No biggie, but it means your serial number has crept in. i've edited them all out for you. In fact i made my journey useful and left only the last section of logfile for you.. - too old, update to latest 6.x version, 6.6.0.18 (Update-Package 1) from here - http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php - firmware is 4 versions out of date, B7W9 is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1905 - see previous comment. Plus to expand on it, the blank discs you're using aren't being recognised, here's an example (not the best example as it's CMC ie crap media but it's an example) of what it should look like. if firmware is up to date you'd have a 3line paragraph here like this - - InCD is Nero's horrid 'packet writing software', uninstall Nero then uninstall completely via Nero's Clean Tools, then reinstall Nero WITHOUT installing InCD
Thanks for the reply creaky. This problem just started happening ( after making about 20 dvds with no problems) I will go through your suggestions above and see if it helps Also the error message I'm getting at the end is "INVALID BLOCK ADDRESS" but I have no idea where the settings for this is can you let me know (if you know what this is) thanks
the problem came back on the 3rd, 4th.....dvd burn. I did not get these 3 (example) lines even on the dvd's that worked. i'm using Memorex 8x dvd's which I had no problems with the last 75 disk bundle. the problem started when i used 2 fuji disks (one failed) and then went back to the memorex. could my burner all of a sudden not like memorex after tasting fuji ? Any ideas ? here is my last log Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 5:35:34 PM Nero API version: 6.6.0.18 Using interface version: 6.3.1.11 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: Ahead\Nero Recode Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 18e Recorder: <BENQ DVD DD DW1620> Version: B7W9 - HA 0 TA 0 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === CdRomPeripheral : BENQ DVD DD DW1620 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : BENQ DVD-ROM 16X atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : WDC WD2500JD-00HBB0 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === BENQ DVD DD DW1620 D: CDRom0 BENQ DVD-ROM 16X E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1022MB (1047272kB) Free physical memory: 550MB (563888kB) Memory in use : 46 Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 11.12.2005 NeroAPI 3:06:47 PM #1 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: -1 ( 0:00.-1, 0MB) 3:06:47 PM #2 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO 3:06:47 PM #3 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: BENQ DVD DD DW1620, Media type: DVD+R 3:06:47 PM #4 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 3:06:47 PM #5 SCSI -1066 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1182 SCSI Exec, HA 0, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x01AA5A00 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST) Sense Code: 0x24 Sense Qual: 0x00 CDB Data: 0xAD 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x08 0x04 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x12 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x24 0x00 3:06:47 PM #6 CDR -1207 File DVDR.cpp, Line 5306 Book Type automatically set to: Current recorder setting 3:06:47 PM #7 Text 0 File DVDPlusRW.cpp, Line 659 Start write address at LBA 0 DVD high compatibility mode: Yes 3:06:47 PM #8 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 1005 Estimated filesystem size: 544 3:06:47 PM #9 Phase 36 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 Burn process started at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s) 3:06:58 PM #10 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 675 Reserved fragment at 0. nonotme: I have 2 benq 1620s and a 1640 and all 3 of my drives have more trouble with the slower 2.4x burn. I go along with creaky with the firmware not being able to handle this media, but speed up burn to 4x.Get some quality media and step that burn speed up to 8x! That first log said successful/ 2nd log not/ Same media? Describe this blank media: Brand name and speed rate/spindle-case size. I haven't encountered any discs that my benqs didn't like, including the dreaded memosux cmags or staples moser bauers.I sometimes run into a couple of bad discs in a spindle-so I skip down to the bottome of the spindle-then work my way back up towards the suspect bum discs. Check the country of origin on those fuji.If made in japan, then likely taiyo yuden media,taiwanese-probably a poorer manufacturer. I've been having excellent results with Verbatim +8x/+16x/Ritek-r03 in the maxells and Office depot +8x/Sony+fuji yuden000-T02/ and the japanese maxell hitachi +8x-Maxell-002-00. Staples have the sony on sale this week and Office depot has an awesome sale on the 16x verbatims if you happen to have any of those local chain stores. Look for Made in japan for sony/fuji/and maxell. The higher quality manufacturers are in japan,so you'll get taiyo yuden or Hitachi. These are some very good manufacturers.
Hi saugmon The disks i'm using are memorex 8x (with the exception of the 2 fuji). I have bought 3 - 75 disk spindels since I got my burner and nero. the problem started halfway through the third spindel, up till then not one dvd has failed, now only 1 out of 10 seem to work. I have about 30 dvds (in the past 4 days) that have burned but not finilized, therefore cannot be played (except with nero showtime) I use (have always) dvdsanta to convert the avi movie to dvd, then in nero i select [bold]copy entire dvd-video[/bold] the settings are at [bold]fit to target[/bold]...[bold]burn at ounce[/bold]....[bold]high quality mode[/bold] as for the writing speed it's set to [bold]maximum[/bold]but it always starts at 2.4x now that might be because it's not recognizing that my disk is 8x. i don't know. the log shows (as creaky said) that it doesn't read my disk, but when i use nero's toolkit it shows this [bold]Type: DVD+R Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG E01 Disc Status: Open, not finalized[/bold] i don't understand how it can be the discs after 2 and ahalf spindles (almost 200 dvds) worked great. i'm in toronto Can. so i have alot of stores to get different types of discs,(like staples) the problem is, if i buy one type to try, it might work and the second not. i didn't know about the log that nero keeps so i have no idea if nero ever read my discs, all i know is that it was burning them good up till now. i'll try buying a couple of other discs tomorrow but i think it will just be a waist of money, like i said earlier i didn't get those 3 lines even with the last 2 that worked after reinstalling nero.
