Not reading the right burner

    i have just install sony dvd+r burner dru 830a and still reading as my liteon 1635 can any one help me and tell me how do i change it to the sony brand dvd burner... i have also reboot my whole system and it still readin as the liteon instead of the sony brand

    Sony doesn't make their own drives,they outsource them. Liteon made a lot of them,benq made some others.. If your pc tells you it's a Litey,then it's probably a litey.

    All my firmware sites didn't list the DRU 830A and the Liteon 1635S is listed on that drive.

    What's the current firmware version of that sony burner?

    Neroinfotool can tell you. If you don't have that,here's a free program that will tell you actual burner brand name,model#,and current firmware version:

    Did you flash any firmware updates or crossflash the firmware for that sony burner?


    Let us know what the firmware version is and we'll tell you what drive you have.

    Edit: I did some more searching,and it may be a Toshiba/Samsung drive with the Mediatek chipset.

    Post back the current firmware version.
