when i try to burn it says cannot burn compilation on this type of disk? why?

    silkman ,
What is the brand name of the d/l blank media you are using. You might need a firmware update so the burner will recog that particular D/L brand. Go to the site below and you can update the firmware there. If you are not sure about updating and how to do it ask a friend that has done it to do it for you. If you do it incorrectly you can make the burner toast.

You can also d/l DVDInfoPro (free copy has adverts) and it will tell you the firmware version you have on the burner

ok tried reading disk info with alcohol120% and it picks it up fine so i don't think firmware can be the problem. could it be a nero problem?

The burner is not recog. the Verbatim D/L DVD. Try another disk as that one might be bad

I was having that problem, until I flashed my nec3550a with liggy and dee's firmware. Then it worked fine. Be careful if you go that route because it might void your warranty or even toast your burner. You can find the info. at cdfreaks.com
