Up until the end of Sept. all the Prodiscs I got identified as MCC's and even though rated at 4X, they burned at 8X. The newest ones I got are identified as Prodisc and if burned at 8X, all are coasters. Burned at 4X they're OK though. When these are gone, I'll find something else. Does anybody know who else MCC makes disks for cause they sure were nice!
> all the Prodiscs I got identified as MCC's and even though rated at 4X, they burned at 8X I have Prodisc -R 4X, code MCC and burn with 8X burner, I set burn speed to MAX, I never can get burn speed more than 4X. > The newest ones I got are identified as Prodisc and if burned at 8X, all are coasters. I have burned about 40 DVD Prodisc -R 8X , ink jet printable media, code: PRODISC F01 . Bought DVD blank in USA, burnning speed I set to MAX and it burned at 6 - 7.2 , none of them coasted. I burn with Pioneer DVR 108, firmware (dont know, cause I never upgrade). Oh well what can I say............. WHO ELSE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH PRODISC PLEASE POST SO WE ALL CAN SHARE THE INFO.
I had a similar problem as bruceb3 with the new prodiscs... Old MCC coded prodiscs dvd-r 4x white were rated at 4x but I often burned at 8 after I upgraded my firmware...I recently purchased a few of what I though were going to be the same discs from rima.com and then noticed prodisc changed the code to Prodisc S04 but these were not very good...so i returned all of those....I am really fed up with all of these brands...Optodisc,Prodisc,Ritek etc...I am not going to spend top dollar on Taiyo Yuden's either...so at a cheap price...I'm sticking with compusa princo's which my ps2 and stand alone love and if the data corrupts over time...so be it...I still have the originals...Everyone will say Ritek is great but too unreliable at this point...bla bla..and Taiyo Yuden ... thats too much $$ for me...and I'm sick of paying return shipping when discs suck... DAMN YOU DVD MEDIA COMPANIES!!!! WHY CAN'T YOU BE MORE CONSISTENT!!!!!! ..sorry...just needed to get that out of my system...
Try some benQ media. Here in Canada its very cheap. I just recently tryed them and so far i havnt got any coasters out of about 20burns I have 4X which for me only burns at 2X untill lg comes out with there new firmware for my 4040B in about a month. I know it does burn at 4X on many other burners though. So i cant GREATLY recomend these as iv only burned 20 and they have been at 2X but so far im happy with them and they were very cheap so its an option for you.
I was not able to get good results with Prodisc +R 8x, code R03. Pi/Pif tests very bad and compatibility is mediocre. Burned with both Pioneer 108 and NU DDW-082,latest everything (F/W, S/W)
I got some 8X prodisc, they burn only at 1X on my Toshiba SD-R5112. My burner is a 4X burner, but for some reason it burns at 1X using decrypter. Anyone know why?
The Media Code says, I think ProdiscF01. Not MCC. In the past it would say MCC, I would have no problems with MCC. But I am having problems with ProdiscF01. I think I am going to get Ritek G04, I was told that they will work great on my Toshiba SD-R5112 burner.
MCC is one of the best media available so it's real shame that ProDisc didn't stick with it. When buying Ritek be sure to get branded Ritek such as RiDATA so you'll be assured of quality. Some of the unbranded G04 are substandard

I saw MCC code in -R 4X only, not on -R 8X. I have the same Prodisc blank -R 8X as you have, code ProdiscF01, I burned with Pioneer-DVR-108 and Drecrypter, I have NO problems, I like this type of blank alot a lot Humm does the burner make any different ????
I had a similar occurance when using the prodisc R03 white top printable hub with a 8x write, although I burnt @2.4x because the van_helsing movie has rapid movement and tons of special effects.I experienced freezing 1:35mins into the movie. I tried again using my Ritek Ridata silver matte ricoh code. these are 4x recomended, but again I wrote @2.4x and I had no problems. Both media types are dvd+r and purchased from www.blankmedia.ca I'm using shrink to encode and decrypter to burn as an Iso image. My burner is a Lite-on sohw-802s. ifoman, Movie content has no impact on freezing. Really. I've purchased the same disks (R03) at the same location (blankmedia.ca) and experienced problems in all player except one. I'm telling the truth: one player literally ate the god dawn R03 - it never came out, I had to unscrew the dvd player case in order to remove it. I've burned them with two different burners and results were poor. I also tried at 4x without great success. F them... They left a bad taste in my mouth that I do not even want to try the -R from Prodisc.
OK, some of you have problem with with prodisc 8X code R03. I just got some Prodisc DVD +R 8X Here what I have on my Prodisc +R 8X(from Decrypter). So I can buy more or run away from it. Thanks You.
rayboy, I was offline for the weekend. I will check the code (R03 vs R03-03)tonight and let you know.
The Toshiba 5112 is very picky on media. It will revert to 1x on any media it doesn't have a precise code for. It only supported a handfull of DVDs at 4x including some of the older Prodisc codes. You may be able to get some additional support by flashing. I have had 0 problems with 4x or 8x media from prodisc. The MCC 8x that Prodisc has right now does require updated firmware from a lot of drives though. The earlier 8x drives need to be updated as well as the 4x. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Donald [/small]
I have a BenQ DW1620 and am using DVD+R Prodisc R03 ink jet hub printable that I purchased from Blankmedia.ca. I use DVDDecrypter to rip, DVDShrink to shrink and remove menus to an ISO image, then I burn the ISO using DVDDecrypter. I have burned approximately 200 @12x without any problems until I installed Nero 6.6. After that I got some freezing in the last 10 minutes. I removed Nero and reinstalled DVDShrink and have not had problems since. Oh yes I change the Book Type to DVD-ROM and they even play in my ancient DVD player that does not play writeables.
I've just started using prodisc 8x fo1's with dvd decrypter 3.5.1.0, dvd shrink 3.2.0.14 , and nero software(6.6.0.1). I use a nec 16x burner(dvd rw 3500AG). Right now I'm 4/4 and I'm burning at 8x.
