Ive had this computer for a while but havnt tried burning anything for a long time, but lately whever I even try reading a disc it would work. I took out my Plextor PX-716A and reconnected it and it read a music disc but not a DVD I put in also it doesnt want to burn. I have Nero 7 Ultra Edition and I just get burn process errors trying to burn anything, even 1 music file. Im currently trying to use Memorex High Speed CD-RWs. Hope thats enough info, Thanks

    Hi chonki
1st thing edit out your serial # -at the top of the log and begins w/ 1C.
Don't need someone else using it.

    Recorder: <PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A> Version: 1.09
Burner can us a firmware update - the latest is 1.10.

CdRomPeripheral : PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A atapi Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off
Need to turn DMA back on for the burner too. Here's a guide.

    Nero Version: 7.0.8.2
Nero can use an update to - update to the latest 7.5.0.9a.

Memorex uses different manufacturers - some ok some bad but the log doesn't show the manufacturer. May be part of the problem.
Good cd's would be made in Japan Maxell or Fuji.
For DVD's Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

Power calibration errors can be caused my media and/or firmware not up to date.
Another reason could be a dusty lens - use some canned air to blow the burner or a dvd lens cleaner.

Other reasons are poor power or the drive itself.

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS':
Nero & Roxio don't always play well together so if all fails uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool.

Give that a go and let us know.

thanks for the reply, i updated my burners firmware, but when i went to turn DMA on it says on all of them that it already is. Nero didnt want to update... probably because i got it from a friend. Also about the power when i turn on my computer it says that my nvidia video card isnt getting enough power so it lowers its settings so as not to damage it, so i was thinking that might have had something to do with it. also i couldnt find roxio and i even searched my whole computer for the keyword roxio and still nothing

For DMA make sure current transfer mode shows DMA - this uses more of the memory (DMA = Direct Memory Access) and not the processor so may help on the power supply somewhat.

But since you're getting a warning on start up - How big is your power supply?
Any other devices you have attached and getting power from you power supply in the pc (not ones that you plug into a wall socket)
If you do disconnect them and try to burn.

You can use the tool above for Roxio still - it will just clean out any leftovers.

The Nero update well hold off on that - if it's a power issue an upgrade won't make a diff.

I was looking for the voltage on my power supply when i came across a little red switch and a sticker saying 115/230v so being stupid as i am, with the computer on i switched it from the current 115 to the 230. When i look back at my screen and it was blank, so my first thought was that i had moved the monitor cable which has given me problems before, so i tried everything i could think of including turning on and off the computer and monitor in every kind of combination. I took out the little round battery on the motherboard which, and I disconnected everything except for power cable and monitor cable. Still i havnt gotten anything so far and the monitor seems to still work because i connected it to my sisters laptop (the one im using now)

Ok I'd put everything back in and together - change the power supply back to 115 (have pc off doing all this).

Might just be time to take it to the geek squad and have that power supply checked out and maybe changed.

Sounds like it may be going since you're also getting messages about low power.
