a friend has a notebook, and the screen suddenly went blue, all sounds were still there,(she was playing online poker at the time)and could still hear everything going on, she had an online radio playing and could hear that as well. all i can tell you is that she is running xp. any suggestions would be appreciated.

try a system restore thru safemode or uninstall her video driver thru safemode so when windows restarts, it will find new hardware & load it's driver.

Wow, this is a strange one. A Blue Screen usually would indicate a BSOD (caused by a problem in kernel memory, most likely from device driver) but the fact that she could still hear the sounds is very bizarre, since a BSOD dictates a full system halt (though it is often accompanies with noises anyway but it shouldn't keep outputting sounds from Internet radio or online poker.)

What did she do when the screen went blue? Surely she has tried to boot the laptop again since this happened?

It is possible the cable from the mainboard to the screen is loose or broken. If it is the problem will happen again.
