Hello. I have a an HP pavilion dv5140us AMD Turion 64 mobile laptop running on Windows media center Service Pack 2.

Just recently, I've been noticing a strange and alarming problem. Whenever I adjust the moitor/screen, aka move it up or down, little white horizontal lines will flash randomly across the screen and the screen will flicker.

This also happens whenever I move the laptop, say from my lap to a desk, or from that desk to another part of the desk, etc.

Now this doesn't happens EVERY time. Sometimes I can move or adjust the laptop screen fine, but usually it flickers with white lines. Also sometimes it so bad that i have to reboot

I think your LCD inverter is going bad. You could try to reinstall windows on a spare HD and see if it works or try to move it and see if you get it without windows loaded like in the BIOS. If it does do it then its likely your inverter.

You may also have a bad connector from you MB to the lcd. Try looking Here for some more info on your laptop.

Must be a hardware issue then. Does it do it on an external monitor connected to the system?
