Frustrated! I had no problem backing up movies until recently.Every thing I have doesn't work any more...clonerIII, DVDfab, DVD decrypter, DVD shrink, & anyDVD. Every thing stops at about 50% back up and then just stops, with a message of a nonresponsive program and must close. I have uninstalled all the programs and reinstalled all of them 1 @ time, still the same thing, nothing works. Virus scans and spyware removal...done. I really don't want to reformat the whole thing. Is there a software conflict going on inside the system or what? what to do?

do you have the latest version of anydvd? (5.9.1.1)

make sure your firmware is up to date.

    defrag your hard drive.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one having trouble. I am new to burning DVD's and have had little to no success. I agree that the movies will copy about 50% and then give the error message. I was able to successfully burn one DVD yesterday. However; I can only play it on the computer. None of the DVD players in my house recognize it.

get anydvd & you will be able to back up any disc, you can get a 21 day free trial from slysoft.com. once the trial is up it is well worth buying in my opinion.
as for your dvd players not recognizing them , make sure you use quality media like verbatim, taiyo yuden, sony (made in japan) as "cheaper" media can give problems. also make sure that your dvd players will play the dvd format you use (i.e. dvd- or dvd+) as some dvd players will only play one format, if you have the other format try burning a disc & see if it works.

    hope this helps

I do appriciate the advice. As far as the dvd player on the tv's, I just don't understand why they would recognize the dvd that I burned that did not complete. Meaning, when I burned half of a dvd before I was informed that I was performing an illegal action, the player on my tv would read it. However; when I was able to burn one all of the way through, the tv player did not read it. I'll just keep on trying. Thanks.

i have no idea why a 50% burn disc would work & not the ones that burned ok??? your dvd player must recognise the media for it to play the 1/2 burned one, as for getting 1/2 way through a burn then saying illegal operation i have never heard of this, it sounds like it could be a pc/software problem. make sure that you have nothing else running & close down all unnessecery programs whilst you burn. also try a burn at 1X & see if this helps. dont know what else to suggest??
