NOVEMBER 2008 BAN WAVE !!! - no posts of "Oh POOR ME I'M BANNED", Stop it already, just the facts

Main box - My BenQ Elite is now banned. Says account banned but get the familiar z codes of the banhammer.

Other BenQ Elite is not banned.

Played Fallout 3 the day it went "gold" on main box and played GOW2 once 7 days early. Checked both games with abgx360 and both had to download the correct stealth files. I figured this is what banned me.

2 friends of mine who played the Seed4Me NBA 2k9 still haven't been banned, one has played GOW2 7 days early and the other hasn't.

I bet it's Fallout 3 &/ COD5.

 

ok quick update read earlier posts to see what i have played...now banned ...took hard drive of banned console and put it on a spare unmodded one recovered gamer tag and my live account is still ok at the moment watch this space for more info .....if they ban my unmodded console i will be pissed

Xbox 360 was a BenQ with iXtreme 1.41.

I did play the review copy of SR2, and that's probably what got me flagged.

I wasn't playing a game when it happened, I just turned it on and it couldn't connect.

Hope this helps others out.

Reason: This release originated from a guy who worked at Technicolor who stole 100 retail copies of GOW2 from work during the game pressing process. He intended to sell the copies on the street to make money. He was arrested and the games were recovered except for 3 copies. Story here. One of those copies ended up as this release. Ppl then played the game prior to release date and Epic did not release review copies. So, M$ knew every person playing GOW2 early was using a modded console.

Any one of these games will have you flagged with M$. I am of the opinion that M$ waits for multiple flags b4 banning.

If you had 1.3 iXtreme you may have had flags from bad Kreon rip issue with angles greater than 359 degree. This has been fixed in iXtreme 1.4.

Unsure about any of the Saints Row 2 releases or non-english releases.

 

Well I see at least 3 of those games, that I've played. Don't know if that was the Fable II Copy I had though.

 

I have yet to receive the banhammer so Im cool for now.

Well I went on XBL today and am NOT banned YET.
This was the first time I have gotten on XBL since GOW2 release day before the ban wave.
I have a Hitachi with 1.4
Most of my games are downloaded (I know thats bad but I dont own a kreon drive, looking into that...)
I think I have played a leaked copy of Gears or Fallout but I have never played a game BEFORE its release date or I have never played any REVIEW copies.
I did go on with my burnt copy of Fallout today.
I dont know for sure if its leaked or not but ohh well
I think thats all I can think of right know

Is there any way to tell if these copies are the "tagged" games?

 

Still not banned as of now banhammer has claimed more casualties on my friends list first 2 now 3 in one day WTF!! me and a few others r still playing CoDW@W all my banned friends had old 360s n played b4 release date for yr n a half

I'm confused though... I know that there is both an Account Ban, and a System Ban, and mine said it was an account ban?! But I wasn't able to go create a new account by clicking Join Xbox Live? I may actually call M$ and start bitching to them!

 

It says account ban, but it's just the console that's banned. I got that "this account has been banned" message, but I'm able get on live with the same account on 2 different consoles.

 

Well everyone, we can all agree its those few leaked games that have got us banned (GOW2, SR2, Fracture, COD5). I would say we are pretty safe if from now on if we only use games we rip for ourselves, but who knows, maybe in a couple of days everyone will get banned with the new dashboard update.

Also just if anyone was wondering, you can still install the new 'leaked' dashboard update if your xbox has been banned, and works fine with ixtreme 1.4. Great update, can install games directly to your hard drive, best update ever!!!!!!!!

 

After reading this thread and everyones theories as to how these bans are being handed out I figured I would tell my story if anyone cares.

Wednesday the 12th I got banned (3 days ago). 3 months ago I restored my firmware back to the original, tested backups and they would not play, though I was safe. I have never played a backup online and have not played one at all in over 3 months.

I have a Hitachi 0078FK, IXtreme 1.4 was used when flashed. I thought recovering the original firmware was safe? Maybe it is, it's entirely possible I did it wrong. I got banned while playing GoW2 that I purchased at the midnight release.

Now I have to go buy an arcade tomorrow. Fun
