Tried to copy a copy protected BMG CD (for personal use in the car, of course) and now my system is refusing to acknowlege that my CDR/W exists, only giving a "Device not ready" message. I use Nero5 with an LG GCE-8480B device on Windows 98. It had been working without a problem for 8 months before I tried to copy that CD.
BMG Cd.. that's audio right? Does NeroInfo Tools detect the drive? ASPI? Does Windows detect the drive? Could it be during the copy-protection circumvention, something fried? (happened to me when i tried to backup NHL2003 )
Both seem to be detecting the drive to a degree, but not the inserted media (I've tried several different brands, as well). Also, when I try to use a formatted cdrw with Incd, it doesn't regognise that there is a disc in the drive.
Dunno exactly but i recall reading this somewhere about DirectCD interferring with burning process? What do you mean exactly?
Sorry, I meant that the drive ID letter is present in the directory, but when you click on it either nothing happens, or a message comes up saying I've been through all of the system setting and they seem OK. I've searched through the tutorials & help manuals ans nothing helps. Sorry if I'm being unclear, and thank you for trying to help.
Sorry, but I don't know what infotools is. As I say the drive is present whereever it should be, but no media is being recognised. The shop where I got the drive told be the laser was dirty and I bought a cleaning disc, but I can't even play it to see if it will work.
Apologies for the delay in updating you on this. I've decided to take the retailer up on their warranty and have received a brand new 52x writer (and 50 blank cd-rs) in return for the old drive. Everything is now working perfectly, so it looks as though it was really a hardware problem. Thank you to everyone who tried to help me on this.
