nsv??

    what the hell is a nsv file and how can i convert it to avi or mpeg?
    or what do i need to play it?

    nsv = nullsoft video. The main player I guess would be winamp, however there are other players that support it like mplayer and TCMP.

    You can demux using NSVDemux: http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd//Misc/NSVDemux.7z or try mencoder. I'm sure if you search you can find more info on using the above tools.
