I have read that issue in the forums. This same has happened to me. Everything that was mentioned in that thread doesn't pertain to this problem. I did the same thing. 180 Maxtor. Everything was properly installed, Larger drive patches installed correctly. Everything was working fine for a couple years, UNTIL I did the same he did. Now... I had 80 gigs of MP3's. After, I know have 30 gigs of nothing I can find on this drive. Using diskeeper software, I can see that my Mp'3s are on the first part of the drive nicely organized... ON THE LAST portion of my drive it shows System files, three lines of them. I can't find them, even with show hidden files on. I can add and read mps... but these "Phantom" system files remains there. If I didn't use the diskeeper software I probably wouldn't see these files on the bottom of the defragment, or analysis screen. This is my H:USB Drive. It is only used to store my mp3's on. Now of course, diskeeper shows me all of these System files. Now I also notice that I have to defrag my c: quite often because it slows down. When I run Diskeeper on c: it seems the colours identifying what may have been the system files now on H:. Simply the colours have changed on C: drive in certain places.
