NTSC avi to PAL avi to DVD

    Hope this is the right forum.
    Is there any way of avoiding the resultant jerkiness in a PAL DVD which allways seems to happen when starting with an NTSC avi file.
    I understand it's to do with dropping frames to get down to the 25fps setting in PAL.

    I thought players in the UK could handle NTSC disks - therefor I would convert the NTSC AVI to NTSC.

    Mine don't. I think some do but I've heard they don't work very well. I presume they would have to convert while playing so the PAL TV could display properly.
