Would anyone be kind enough to explain to a few things about null modem cables, on my PC the only socket i can see that looks remotely like it is compatible with the cable has about 21 holes in it, is there a cable i can get that will suit both the 9 holes at the box end and the PC, all advice is very welcome, thanking you in advance, Qaz23.

    Hi
A Null modem cable has two ends with 9pin female holed plugs on each so your PC needs a 9 pin male socket (Pins). Most new PC's and laptops don't have 9 pin sockets (Sometimes called RS232 sockets)so you need to use a USB convertor which means you need to goto the popular auction site and search for USB to RS232 converter (USB on one end and 9 pin male socket (pins) on the other end, about £0.90p + Postage, then use it with a Null Modem Cable (same auction site for one of those)if you don't have one.
