okay i have this video card, it used to say it was shared so i was only able to use 256 of it. now when i check my dxdiag it says my video card ram is 1768 approx the question is why is it shared, and now why is it saying its 1768. i have windows vista ult. asus m2n-e mother board 4gbs of ram. direct x 10. and when i goto play games like crysis it wont even display the EA logo without taking 20 seconds first.and when i play LOTRO it will only let me play at minimum. OS: Windows® XP Processor: Intel Pentium® 4 1.8 GHz or equivalent RAM: 512 MB Video: 64 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 3 or ATI® Radeon® 8500 Disk Space: 7 GB available DirectX: DirectX® 9.0c Optical Drive: 2x DVD-ROM Internet: 56kbps Modem are the specs for LOTRO
It would appear that you have an onboard video chip. Those share with the RAM on your computer. The 1768MB is the RAM that you have available for use by the computer.
if you want to play games you will need a new video card. i would recommend the 3850 or the 9600gt for budget cards.
my video card is plenty fast... the recomended for lotro is 128. i have 512. my video card is fine. and ive played crysis before on this video card at medium settings. its just lately its been saying its shared 256 desktop 256 gaming.
