For some reason when I boot -up my computer it gets all the way to the screen that gives me the option to boot from disk and then it just goes black and stays that way. See the way my computer is set up when I start it up it goes intro screen, boot screen, that loading screen thing, then windows sign-on. But it stops before the loading screen. Any advice?
Does it sit with a blinking cursor or error message or does it literally go blank? Does your hard disk still appear in the BIOS?
It just sits with nothing on the screen, right at the part were the windows loading screen would be. I think about just re-installing windows xp and see if I can just start from scracth. I will try to see if my harddrive shows in BIOS tonight.

I've been running this set up for 2 yrs now with minium issues. The only change is my brother ran a disk repair thing using my windows xp upgrade disc when the computer said there was a file missing at start-up. i think he said something about creating a new master boot record. but that was weeks ago and this just happened on Sunday.
