Odd question - but please confirm if this is possible?

Could someone please confirm if this is possible or not.

I am trying to find out if camcorder tapes that have been recorded elsewhere (i.e. another persons camcorder) will work in other camcorders of the same format.

In other words if I tape something on VHS format on my VCR - and take that tape and play it on a friends VCR it will work.

Does the same apply to camcorders and miniDV's?

i.e. 8mm - will it play on ANY 8mm camcorder?
Hi8 - will it play on ANY Hi8 camcorder?
miniDV's - will it play on ANY DV camcorder?

Yes...any Hi8 should Play in any Hi8 Player and any MiniDV tape should Play in any MiniDV Player/Camcorder..

And of course any VHS tape should Play in any VCR...
