I can't get this to burn. I've cleaned the DVD. I've done Clone/AnyDVD. Decrypter/Shrink/AnyDVD and every other combination I can think of. In Clone it always stops at 80% with an unknown error. Decrypter put it on the Hdd fine. Then when I open it in Shrink it says the main movie title (6.7mb) can not be compressed. Anyone ever get that?

I've tried all of this in two readers. The DVD plays fine in my DVD players.

    Any ideas?

I backed up this movie using AnyDVD and Shrink to iso, then burned with Alcohol 120%, with no issues. I would try another copy of the movie, usually when I have trouble with a movie that others have backed up without issue it turns up being a bad pressing.

I agree with goyard. It's probably a bad pressing.

I agree. I ordered another one. Another odd thing I forgot to mention. While Clone was doing it's thing the preview window was just black even though the movie was playing. In Shrink it was a garbled mess in the preview window.

What I don't understand, if it was a bad press why did it play fine in the dvd players?

But, you say "I am able to watch the DVD fine in my DVD player." That is irrelvant, as drives and players operate on different programming. Drives are logical, players can interpret digital signals and are not choked by bad data.

Could this be because C@TCF is in a dual layer format.I had this same problem with Lords of Dogtown.

I successfull backed this one up with Decrypter in FIle mode then Shrink and Decrypter to burn.

The problem may lie in the Learning the Oompa lumpa (or whatever they are called) dance. This is part of the main movie, just given a differnt VOB ID and accessed with Cell commands. Also, all the FBI Warnings and such are part of the main movie and done in a similar fashion (or was it the two previews).

Try using VobBlanker to blank those suckers out.

I actually removed most of the cell commands. just if you do that make sure you fix it so the the Play will take you to the movie and not the French menu. If you screw it up where the French menu pops up when you hit "Play" on the backup, you will be able to use the Chapter Skip button to get past it and the movie will then play normally.

I got a new DVD in. It burned flawlessly with Clone/AnyDVD. I guess the first one was just a bad copy. Thanks for the info about the difference between DVD writers and consumer players. Seems I learn something new every day around here. Great group!
