I read somewhere years ago about someone that built an XP CD from an OEM version of the disc.
My laptop came with an OEM version of XP, and it annoys me that it didn't come with an actual Microsoft XP disc instead. Reinstalling Windows just doesn't seem clean with all the extra things that come on the OEM disc..

    I was curious as to:
-If this is possible to do, at all. Building a factory-like XP disc from an OEM version. I haven't the money to buy XP just yet, so this would be something interesting for me to try to do.
-And if it is possible, would it be illegal to build an XP disc from the OEM version.
-If it's not possible and/or illegal, is there a way to know what to delete after an OEM clean install to get as close to a clean factory XP install as possible?

It seems somewhat noobish to ask, but I was wondering!

You can try a piece of software called 'nLite'. Simply install this FREE software and follow the directions. You will need your XP OEM CD. Direct nLite to the windows folder of your CD and it will do the rest!

    Good Luck

Yeah its very possible to do with Nlite...and yes it would be illegal because you are copying the disc....but your better off using a clean copy...(non-OEM) because unless you know what your doing...those pre-loaded files will always be there.
