my copy of office 07 will allow you to make and save documents but once you save the document you cannot reopen the files. It gives an error about not having the permissions or ristricted access. does anyone have any clue as to what might fix the problem? Thank you in advance.

I've had that problem myself. Firstly, make certain you're signed in on a administrator account. This seems silly but sometimes it matters. Second, when saving your files ensure you are not making them read only (not necessarily the problem but can sometimes help reduce the risk IMO). Third, try this program http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ In theory it should find any application that has a hold on the file and force it to let go allowing you access. Fourth, attempt to move the file to a thumb drive/external/disc and see if it will load off of that. Often times I get locked out due to the drive being picky. If moving the file works (though often times it will lock you out saying you must be an admin) you should think very seriously about reformatting your drive. Fifth, boot in safe mode. Sign in as an Admin if prompted. Safe mode lets you do lots of stuff you otherwise couldn't in normally operating windows. Give some of those options a try and see if anything works for you.
