    LOL Tokijin

    man, despite how drunk i was last nite, i'm a very passive person when buzzed, i don't go round shooting off my mouth as many intoxicated people do, i'm just real laid back....

    as to the telling everyone how much i loved you guys, this thread isn't brokeback mountain my friend, LOL...no gay cowboys in these neck of the woods~ :) noted: i don't have anything against people that prefer to have same gender relations, but i am VERY much heterosexual, as i believe my wife is PROOF of that FACT~ :)

    good to be back here...cheers all~ :)

    Oh C'mon Doc, inbred sodomites have feelings too.

    [IMG]

    I tried Cross Flashing my burner with BenQ 1640 Firmware, it wouldn't even let me. It simply said this drive isn't allowed to be updated. I guess that's karmic forces saving me from myself. It wasn't a huge risk anyway. I got my burner at Wal-Mart, I think we're all familiar with their return policy. Oh well, no PI/PO scanning for me. :( No biggie. Cheers!

    LOL, nice pic u got there~ :)

    seems to be a thorn in your side huh? i have never owned that particular Sony you have, so, i don't know the steps required to successfully cross-flash into the benq 1640, wish i did, then i could show you how, but i don't :(

    i guess just be content with the fact that it's a very good burning drive, as to the test scans/scores, that's just a small drop in a very big pond in terms of dvds/media~ :) i really don't put ALL that much weight on nero scans/dvdinfopro, while they DO account for something, depending on the drive you use to scan your backups, they COULD or COULD NOT be very accurate (ie. Pioneer drives, percentage wise, are about as accurate as getting struck by lightning, TWICE...) :)

    still waiting on that new Benq dw-1650 to be released here in the U.S....what's taking them so long? LOL...urs truly is getting impatient now, need a new toy to test the crap out of with high quality media...

    docTY~

    Yeah if I really need to have PI/PO scanning, I should just pick up the BenQ DW-1650. I'm quite sure the official firmware will support PI/PO scanning booktyping/bitsetting. Lemme know when you hear something about it. I'll wait til it's a little more readily available. In the mean time, I'll enjoy using my booktyping/bitsetting to booktype my TY DVD+R's to DVD-ROM. Maybe I'll find some threads with people who have Pioneer Drives and lord my booktyping/bitsetting over them lol. Cheers!

    I'm sure. I've only been burning for 5 months, and only been good at it for a couple. We're all eager to here about the specs of that BenQ DW 1650. I'm sure it'll be a quality drive. I dunno, I think I'd have to buy a BenQ over a Litey. Simple, feature packed, and reliable, those qualities seem to embody what BenQ is all about. Eh I'm sure Litey's are real good too. I'd probably get a burner from one of those two companies, when I get another one. Cheers!

    @Doc

    I thinks it's called Buffalo isn't it? I think I've seen it somewhere, possibly at cdfreaks.com while I was lurking/reading and someone mentioned that it (hacked firmware) does worked "book typing" pretty good.

    @alkohol

    hehe, yeah, it's the Japanese "Buffalo" firmware, obviously my FAILED attempt at a joke went down in flames~ LOL

    Buffalo is the brand name of Pioneer over in Japan, so, they "brand" all their pioneer drives as "Buffalo" hehehe...and over in Europe, i believe it's "Medion" :) they are all PIONEERS as we know them over here in the U.S.

    i just tried to make an inference to "buffalo" in comparison to bison/yak/hairy cows as we know those animals as such over here in the States~ LOL...guess my jokes are pretty lame HAHAHAHAHA, only i get them...

    docTY~

    cheers buddies~

    I just burned MLB 2006: The Show to Yuden000 and it plays perfectly. Not that I expected differently, but I'm still kinda in the honeymoon phase with the TY DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-ROM. Max spike of 9 PIE's burning right to the edge of the disc, not too bad. DVD+R's are fun lol. Cheers!

    Keep in mind the buffalo f/w only works with pioneer 109's and 110's. All other pioneer owners are SOL in regards to bitsetting. Thats why when I do buy another dvdrw drive it will be bitsetting ready. Both my litey and benq do support bitsetting and have their own booktype utilities. I'll most likely go with another benq or a plex when the need arises.

    MLB 2006: The Show is a really good game. I'm biased towards 989 studios, but they did an excellent job with this game. The graphics are sweet, gameplay is simple for novices, and advanced enough to satisfy video baseball vets. Very realistic MLB experience, I doubt EA or anybody else will top it this as far as baseball sims. I highly recommend it. I'm torn... do I use my Sony Branded MIJ TY DVD+R's to burn PS2 games, or my TYG02's that've served me so well? Decisions decisions... oh well I'm on spring break. I think I'll give the Sony DVD+R's a go at backing up games for awhile. I like the white surface, it's great for writing on. Plus I want some more data to evaluate the overall perforamance of the TY DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-ROM vs DVD-R's. Everybody says DVD+R's are better, I want to see for myself. Cheers!

    VERY good info found here by 95MAX, all credit goes to him for this terrific info and find:

    on the Sony 8x dvd-r MIJ spindles locally, look for the "octagon" spacer at the top to get the TYG02s (TYs)...nicely done 95MAX~~ :)

    Another tell tale sign (at least for the MIJ Sony TY DVD+R's, is that accucore isn't printed on the discs themselves. It'll say accucore on the package, but not on the disc. That held for both the spindles of TY Sony DVD+R's I bought, of course maybe all the Sony DVD+R's don't have accucore on them. Either way that's good info Doc. Are the MIJ Sony TY DVD+R's gaurunteed to be Yuden000-TO2? I've been playing with them recently for burning PS2 games. They work great of course and I "acquired" the most recent version of Alcohol 120% which can auto booktype to DVD-ROM a la Nero, so that's pretty sweet. I always liked Alcohol 120% for ripping scratched discs and burning. It was the first program I really got familiar with, so it's got a special place in my heart lol. Anyway, it's fun playing with DVD+R's, I love the shiny non branded TYG02's, but I needed a change. Cheers!

    so far, yes, pretty much 100%, i have yet to purchase a spindle myself nor hear of anyone receiving anything else otherwise under the Sony 8x dvd+r MIJ spindles~ :)

    interesting that you mention the "accucore" thing, on the NEWER Sony 8x dvd+r (the ones with the octagonal spacer at the top) MIJ spindles, it DOES say "accucore" on the disc itself, reason i mention this is that i have both the "older" Sony 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02s WITHOUT the "accucore" on the disc and a few of the "newer" Sony 8x dvd+r MIJ YUDEN000T02s WITH the "accucore" written right on the top white surface~ :)

    the quality of BOTH the YUDEN000T02s is identical, just different "batches" of them and Sony wanted to imprint their "accucore" technology so everyone knows on their newer media~ :)

    Okay thanks. I'll have to try the octagonal spacer deal out. I keep looking for MIJ Sony DVD-R's, if that doesn't work 100%, I can always take em back to Wal-Mart. Cheers!

     I was just given 5 50 packs of MIJ Fuji DVD+R by one of the kids (purchased at KMart) ... genuine Taiyo yuden all the way ... the FujiFilms seem to have a nicer finish than the TY Sony discs, also ...

     Hey Doc, the catfreak's back !!
